Springtime in Northern Virginia is a colorful spectacular. With so many different flowers and flowering trees and shrubs it’s as if Mother Nature gives us a reward for getting through a cold and sometimes gloomy winter. The DC area is known for the beautiful cherry blossoms, but there are many more amazing blooms in our area to welcome Spring – the bright purple of redbuds, vibrant yellow of forsythia, clean white blooms on pear trees, and my personal favorite – the pleasing periwinkle and pink of bluebells.
When the bluebells bloom, it’s a carpet of color that makes a perfect backdrop to capture our furry friends. My favorite place to capture the bluebells are in Bull Run Regional Park, a local gem right in our backyard! I always have a lot of fun shooting during this bluebell season, and I wish I could share some of the amazing shots I captured, but sadly, this year, my bluebell sessions got rained out. For this year, I just wanted to share some of my favorite shots from past seasons.
