I recently came across this blog post from one of my friends, and clients, Andria Corso with Andria Corso & Co, where she spoke about choosing to be child free, and how she overcame the guilt that came with making that decision. I totally related to that post because my husband and I have made the choice to not have children. Seeing her words in her blog, expressed exactly how I’ve felt for years, but had no real way to articulate. After I read it, I finally allowed myself to be free from the guilt of that decision.
Though I am child-free by choice, I am a proud DOG mom (and horse and bunny mom)! So, this Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate dog moms! And before you ask, yes, I know that being a dog mom is not exactly the same as having human children, and I know that I will not help them with their homework, or send them to college. My dogs rely on me for food, water and shelter, and love. And it’s unconditional love. In my family, we spend most of our time with our pets, and we even take the dogs on vacation. My dogs may not be my children, but they are still my babies. So, this Mother’s Day, I will be spending my time hanging with my fur babies. I hope you do too!
