People are fantastic at documenting their child’s first year – from the home photos to the professional shoots, most parents have oodles of pictures documenting everything their child does in their first year. Your pets should be no different.
Your pet’s first year is full of fun and exciting milestones. Whether it’s the day you brought him or her home as a puppy or kitten, or the first day your rescue fur baby came to his or her “forever home,” you don’t want to forget the special days.
I like to capture everyday moments with my fur babies, not just the big milestones. When a dog first learns the word “sit” (although holding that position for a first photo is a different story), or when they lose its first puppy tooth, but also, when they are out on a walk, meet a new friend or just look cute in those fun puppy poses or even better — asleep. Cats are especially fun to photograph when they are asleep. They get into the best poses – I mean how do puppies and kittens just fall asleep 2 minutes after playing hard and in contorted positions? I also like taking photos in the same location each month.
You know how in the past few years people have been posting photos of their baby with a cute Pinterest-y sticker with a number for each month? Kind of like that. It could be as simple as having your dog next to your favorite tree, to document how much he’s grown, or it can be inside in her favorite spot, the point is to capture the moments of your first year together as a keepsake you’ll have forever.
Your pet is a special member of your family, don’t forget to capture the memories!
