As Charles Dickens said, “What greater gift than the love of a cat?”
Those of us who have cats understand exactly what Mr. Dickens meant. I recently had the privilege of spending time with these three adorable kittens: Sasha, Buster and Bif. Three babies from the same litter, all with very different personalities.
Sasha and Bif were both initially a bit camera shy. Bif finally came around after being coaxed with some food and toys (smart cat!). Sasha took a little more convincing, but after seeing her brother give in, she decided to meow for the camera. Buster was the life of the party, playful and willing to have his pictures taken – he especially liked toys! This photo shoot was another reminder that no matter how many cats you’ve been around, no matter how many photo shoots you’ve shot – you can’t rush a cat! Cats will get there when they want to, on their own pace.
I love what I do – in addition to meeting and spending time with adorable animals like Sasha, Buster and Bif, I get to spend time with their owners. And as any pet owner will tell you, there’s a special bond between fellow pet lovers –know you’re in good company.
And when you get the chance to talk to other pet owners, you understand why they love animals and enjoy having them as part of their family. I learned that Sasha, Buster and Bif’s parents lost their first two kittens in a fire. A tragedy that has undoubtedly affected them in a profound way. Thankfully they saved photos of their kittens, and have their memories captured to look at now. A poignant reminder to capture the moments with your pets.
